Plant-based whipped coffee (Dalgona iced coffee)

If you like coffee, this one's for you. Today I present… Whipped Coffee aka Dalgona Coffee. If you were on tiktok back in 2020, you will most definitely remember the Dalgona Coffee trend that every single foodie was making.

As a trip down memory lane, I decided to re-create this drink post-pandemic to see if it actually tastes as good as it used back then. Scroll down for the full recipe.

Ingredients

*1 tbsp instant coffee

*1 tbsp granulated sugar

*1 tbsp boiling water

*½ cup milk of choice (I used soy milk)

*a pinch of cinnamon (optional)

Method:

  1. In a small bowl, add instant coffee, granulated sugar, boiling water, and cinnamon. Then use a hand whisk or stand mixer and whip on one of the higher speeds.

  2. Whip the entire mixture for about 2 minutes or more (depending on your choice of mixer. Scrape down the sides and whip any bits that didn't get whipped.

  3. Have a quick taste test (although the flavor will be intense), and add slightly more sugar IF desired—keep in mind you will combine the whipped mixture with milk later.

  4. Add the whipped coffee mixture to a tall glass (about 8 ounces/1 cup) with your milk of choice (I personally prefer soy or oat milk). If you would like the coffee to be cold, add a few ice cubes. If you prefer hot coffee, just pour your heated milk to the glass and place the whipped mixture on top.

  5. Use a reusable spoon to stir the whipped coffee into the milk.

  6. Enjoy!
